Samsung Galaxy Pop review

Recently Samsung had launched Samsung Galaxy POP a new mid-range 3G device runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo. Samsung Pop also know as Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 is packed with 600MHz processor and available at a price tag of around Rs 9000. My friends keep asking me to suggest them a 3G handset for a budget range upto Rs 10,000 and I am always recommending them Samsung Galaxy Pop S5570. Recently I myself purchased this affordable 3G device and after exploring it about few weeks, I got good reasons to recommend if for others.

  • Its sleek, much stylish with attractive design, and apart from this it has a good touch experience. Few days back I got privilege to use iPhone and touch experience of Samsung Pop is quite comparable with iPhone, I must say that.
  • The much bigger touchscreen of 3.14 inches TFT capacitive with QVGA 240 x 320 resolution delights with excellent viewing experience, especially videos. Watching Mobile Tv and Youtube videos in landscape mode on 3G data connection from MTNL and playing “angry birds” is real delight.
  • The 3.15 megapixel camera offers better imaging.
  • It is a 3G phone, and supports HSDPA 7.2 Mbps to accomplish all your data access needs at best speed.
  • Over and above that it has wi-fi. Thus here is device with wi-fi, 3G HSDPA, touchscreen running on Google Andorid 2.2 froyo in the budget of Rs 9000 is a great deal. Isn’t that?
  • It also has A-GPS module for map and navigation. The Bluetooth also adds more advantage to it.
  • SWYPE  for fast typing on QWERTY touch.
  • Loads fast and well integrated with Google services. Push mail, twitter, facebook and all social media apps. Oops ! it runs on Android, so no need to tell all this to you.
But it has only one serious problem which Samsung needs to consider.
As mentioned above, the device runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo, and enables user to enjoy social networking, emails, web access, playing games, trying various apps from Android Market. Keeping resource requirement of Froyo, Sumsung equipped this phone with 600 MHz processor and 384 MB RAM. But while exploring all these great features and enjoying the super fast 3G connectivity from MTNL, I noticed one flaw in this Samsung gem. Its Battery is not upto the mark, yes ! its true and not acceptable if you want to fully utilize this device. Only Six hours, yes ! after using this device for less then six hours  its battery drains out. I tried some apps like Battery Doctor, but not much relief. Do comment if you got any solution to it.
However, if  anyone having a budget of about Rs  9000 and want a decent 3G phone running Android, Galaxy Pop is affordable and considerable.
